As much as I enjoyed all of the traveling, it was sooo nice to be home!! There is so much to get caught up on when you are gone for a while, but one thing I couldn't wait to do was to get together with some of my friends that were able to join me on some of my excursions. I invited Sara Underwood, Cara Zavaleta, Amber Campisi and Pilar Lastra to join me for lunch at Geoffrey's in Malibu to share pictures, memorabilia and stories from our trips!!

We started out with peach Bellini's and worked our way into appetizers while Sara and I discussed our Croatia experience from cliff jumping to skinny-dipping! We talked about our cute Croatian tour guide, the cool Golden Horn beach in Brac and the beautiful terrace bar at sunset.

Another peach Bellini and some salad and Cara and I were talking about our adventures in Thailand including my scary parasailing mishap. There were so many adventures in Thailand from rock climbing, riding elephants, snake charmers, Thai cooking, boxing and massage -- even the tuk tuk's were an adventure!! Cara brought memorabilia from Fantasea! She brought the little stuffed animal she won at the adult theme park, which brought up memories of how we got to dress up in the traditional Thai dress and people actually thought we worked at the park and lined up for pictures with us!!! LOL! So much fun!

Morocco!

There is no question it is a long trip from California to Morocco. It took a total of 27 hours from my front door to the door of the hotel in Marrakech, but once you are there you forget all about your journey and start focusing on the experience. And Morocco is an experience!! It is colorful and vibrant, bustling and exotic.

ESSAOUIRA

Our trip began in Marrakech, but since that isn't near the beach, we took a three-hour drive to Essaouira. Essaouira is a windy seaside community that is laid back and famous for surfing, especially kite surfing! However, it is probably most famous for being the inspiration for the Jimi Hendrix song, "Castles in the Sand." My friend, Playmate Pilar Lastra, joined me for this exotic excursion.

As soon as we got to Essaouira we met up with Khalid Benchegra. He is a Moroccan TV/Movie star and he took us to the Medina (old walled city) and shopping in the Souks (or stores) within the medina. Khalid was a great tour guide and he helped us find some cute traditional clothing.

Cancun

I started my Mexican excursion in Cancun. I have been to Cancun a few times before and always have an amazing time but it has been years since I was last there. The people are friendly, the water and the sand are beautiful and the party never ends! Especially this time because I was in Cancun for Spring Break and you would be hard pressed to find a place more wild and lively than Cancun for Spring Break. It truly is the place to go to let loose!

As soon as I checked into my hotel, I immediately went out to the pool, which of course was full of college students having a good time. So I swam up to the pool bar to see what everyone was drinking and get their recommendations for what I should do while I'm here. The "in" drink to be having was called "the monkey" - a sweet, milky concoction of white rum, Kahlua, banana, coconut and pineapple. It sounded like a hangover to me, but because they were served in a hollowed out coconut shaped like a monkey… I couldn't resist! The spring breakers had a lot of fun ideas for me and I couldn't wait to begin my sightseeing!

Tulum

By Bridget Marquardt on May 21, 2009 5:52 PM | Permalink | 6 Comments

Tulum is about an hour outside of Cancun and it is absolutely gorgeous. One of the prettiest beaches I have ever been to. The sand is truly pure white and the water is turquoise, calm and warm. This is a perfect place to come to rest and relax. A neat thing to see and probably what Tulum is most famous for is its Mayan ruins overlooking the beach. Of course I had to take a tour of the ruins. Tulum translates to 'The Walled City.' It is approximately eight hundred years old and it's actually one of the younger cities in the Mayan culture. I had a guide that walked me through and I learned about the rituals and human sacrifices of the ancient Mayan people! It was very interesting. I'm always fascinated by ghost towns, ruins and the stories that go with them. I love the history and mystery of it all.

Miami

This was my first trip to Miami. Of course I have been to the Miami Airport many times, but this was my first time actually in Miami and experiencing it. I loved it!! Miami is a place that I could see myself living … although I'm basing this decision after only being there for a week during Spring Break. Perhaps I should go back during hurricane season and see if I feel the same way ... lol. Plus, I was able to meet up with some old friends, fun celebrities and fabulous guides. My host for most of the trip was Miss Miami 2009, Jenice Fernandez. Jenice is a Miami native and her family is from Cuba.

One of the first things we did was to take a yacht ride along the coast of Miami. We saw the harbor, Star and Monument Island and the coastline. One thing I learned right away about Miami is that the weather can be very unpredictable. While on the yacht it went from sunny and hot, to cloudy and windy, to raining and back to hot and sunny again in a matter of minutes!!! The yacht ultimately dropped us off at the most famous and iconic hotel in Miami; the Fontainebleau.
